Whitehaven & District Lions Club are a group of around 30 Men and Women who all like to give something back to the community
WHAT DO WE DO?
We organise fundraising activities throughout the year and make donations to those in the community who need it the most. We also organise the annual Whitehaven Carnival and assist at other community events.

WHO ARE LIONS INTERNATIONAL?
Lions is the worlds largest secular service organisation with over 1.4 million members in 201 different countries, the headquarters are in Oakbrook, Illinois, USA.
HOW MUCH OF THE MONEY RAISED BY LIONS GOES TOWARDS ADMINISTRATION COSTS?
None! Each member of a Lions Club pays a subscription; this subscription pays for the administration of the Lions organisation.Every penny raised goes to good causes.
HOW DOES LIONS DIFFER FROM OTHER CHARITIES?
Lions is run by local people at a local level and often reaches those who are overlooked or are ineligible for grants from larger national or international charities.
HOW LONG HAVE LIONS BEEN IN THE UK?
Lions came to the UK in 1950. There are now over 850 clubs in the UK & Ireland. In West Cumbria there are clubs in Maryport, Keswick, Cockermouth, Workington and here in Whitehaven. |
